A New Park in the Neighborhood
Have you visited Liberty Park yet?
If you don't live in the area, you might have missed the epic opening of the brand new park in our neighborhood.
Liberty Park, at the southern end of the World Trade Center site opened today! The elevated park sits on top of security vehicle parking lot and features wooden benches, angled planters and a great view of the 9/11 Memorial site. The park also connects to the newly opened Liberty Street Pedestrian Bridge over West Street. Still under construction, the Calatrava designed St. Nicholas National Shrine is located on the eastern edge of the park. #openingday #libertypark #wtc #oneworldtrade #groundzero #calatrava #911memorial #architecture #downtownmanhattan #lowermanhattan #libertyparknyc
The New York Times weighs in with:
"An overlook running more than 200 feet along Liberty Street offers a splendid view of the memorial from an intimate perspective, along with the calming sound of the waterfalls at the south memorial pool and welcome puffs of river breeze."
