Community, Coffee and Celebrity
Co-founded by the award-winning actor Hugh Jackman, local Laughing Man Coffee was launched in 2011 to “provide a marketplace for farmers in developing countries to sell their goods to consumers in the U.S.”
Jackman was motivated by meeting coffee farmer, Dukale, and his family.
“[F]irst, that amazing coffees are being grown by small farmers like Dukale and they needed to be shared. Second, coffee farming is a family affair. Everyone is part of the process and family is not just those in your home but the community around you that helps and benefits from your success."
100% of Jackman’s profits go to the Laughing Man Foundation which he created to support educational programs, community development and social entrepreneurs around the world.
Jackman and co-founder former criminal prosecutor David Steingard share the vision that business can be a vehicle for positive change.
While they are contributing to making more sustainable coffee, they putting the majority of their focus on helping sustainable individuals, family, and community.
