Woman reading children stories: At Battery Park City Library - NYPL

(From the NYPL Battery Park City's Facebook)

    • Multi-lingual Storytime for children of all ages, "Where the children's librarians share stories, songs, and rhymes in several languages!"
    • "Storymakers and Shakers", an exciting program for early learners, where "caregivers and children will become familiar with concepts of story building, how music relates to literacy development, and how to use visual and auditory cues to visualize a story outside of a book! Every session will include a read aloud, a hands-on activity and wonderful tips for parents to make stories come to life!"

The branch also taps into your child's inner musician with:

  • "Music Makers Design Lab", an interactive program for children in grades K-5 which allows them to "explore the mechanics behind music as they learn how percussion, string, and wind instruments, as well as the human voice, are used to produce dynamic sounds and rhythms." They investigate how sounds are made and build their own instruments from "different yet familiar materials like cardboard, rubber bands, paper straws and more!"
  • "Summer Reading Kick-Off Rock and Rhyme": "Let’s celebrate summer with a full band show! Children can’t help but feel joy when they make music with the band, play air, guitar, clap and jump, and engage in a highly interactive experience that includes parachutes, props, bubbles, imaginary play and interactive puppetry."

There's lots to discover and learn at the library! Let us know what you find.
